We offer private lessons for piano, guitar and voice. The focus of our lessons is performance on the instrument and music theory education. Learning music theory doesn’t just mean learning to read notes – it means learning to hear them (aural skills), feel them (rhythm) and create them (composition). Learning music in a well-rounded fashion enables students to be life-long musicians – as well as gives them a head start for other instruments in the future!$135/month (4, 30-minute lessons)
We also offer group lessons for piano for students aged 4-6. Our group lessons are move developmentally appropriate for the younger student. By teaching the music basics through singing, instrument play and movement and listening games our students are able to be successful and prepare for more traditional lessons! This is a great transition from mommy & me music to lessons!$85/month (4, 30 minute lessons for groups of 2) $85/month (4, 45 minute lessons for groups of 3)
All students are invited to perform at our winter and spring recitals. You can see some of our recital pictures here.
We also offer adaptive lessons for students with learning differences.
Many music students are not able to be successful at a traditional lesson. This does not mean that the student can’t learn – it just means they need their own specialized method! Our board-certified music therapists are able to assess each student’s skills and needs and create a method that works.
Adaptive lessons can be modified music lessons or a combination of music lessons and music therapy. Incorporating non-musical goals (e.g. motor skills) into an adaptive lesson can have a great impact on both
the musical learning and non-musical development!
If you’re unsure whether adaptive lessons are appropriate or not, we offer all potential adaptive lesson students a FREE SCREENING. This 30-minute appointment allows one of our MTs to determine if the student is ready for lessons as well as the most appropriate instrument.
“Our son has always had a strong interest in music, but he’s on the autism spectrum and has difficulty regulating his emotions. We were worried that he’d never be able to take music lessons successfully. Then we found MTS of GA! Unlike the other music therapists we had tried, the staff here really took the time to understand our son, his interests and just the right strategies to help him learn. Our son has been taking adaptive piano and voice lessons with Beth for the past two years, but he has also seen the other staff, and we have to say the quality of training is exceptional, both in music and in teaching children with special needs or learning differences. My son can’t wait for class in this comfy cottage setting and he loves performing in the optional recitals. Overall, we have seen tremendous growth in him in all developmental areas since attending and we highly recommend MTS of GA to any family with these challenges.” -Valerie and John Davis
